iTunes 7 Introduces Movie Downloads
Apple announced iTunes 7 at today’s “It’s Showtime” media event. iTunes 7 has beautiful interface changes, as well as stunning new features such as the new album and Cover Flow views of music, TV shows and movies which lets you navigate through album art to mimic flipping through a CDs or DVDs collection. The “iTunes Music Store” is now referred to as the “iTunes Store” and is offering over 75 movies (640×480 pixels) from Walt Disney Pictures, Pixar, Touchstone Pictures and Miramax Films, which customers can purchase and download to watch on their computers and iPods, and soon on their flat screen televisions with Apple’s upcoming iTV player (the long rumored Apple media center will be available in Q1 2007).
When you buy movies from the iTunes Movie Store, you get near DVD-quality, 640-by-480-pixel video perfect for watching on your computer and for syncing to your iPod. You’ll be able to download these movies (from $9.99 to $14.99) the week they’re released on DVD. Watch free trailers before you download and pre-order upcoming releases. iTunes will let you know as soon as they’re ready to download
iPod Games. Available for just $4.99 in the iTunes Store, now you can also enjoy classics video games such as Tetris, PAC-MAN, and more. Once you’ve purchased the games you want, simply download and sync. iTunes automatically transfers the games to your iPod.
iPod Summary. A handy summary page gives you a quick snapshot of your iPod and complete control over what’s inside: content, storage allocation, syncing, software updates, etc…
